A reconnaissance operation is planned for April/ May 2016 to survey and investigate the 1660 VOC fleet lost near Kabaena. Additional seven historically relevant pre-20th century shipwrecks will be surveyed within the same expedition, such as e.g. the Walvis of 1662. This operation is developed in close cooperation with the Indonesian government and serves primarily to protect these important heritage sites.
